Is it safe for camping?

Is it really safe at a camp site?

Yeh, its pretty safe. Just dont go touching the fire, or the lava hot metal ammo can, you know, because hot.

Despite the big flame, our TactiCool Fire Pits are safe alternatives to wood burning fires when out camping, overlanding, or hanging out. For a couple reasons:

  1. No sparks. Propane doesn’t crack and pop like a wood fire does, and while that undeniably provides for some good ambience, its not the safest option out in the wilderness.

  2. No Clean Up. One of the biggest causes of wildfires is unattended wood fires. At the end of a long day on the trails, the last thing you want to do is wait around in the cold waiting for the fire to snuff out completely. So you either pour a bunch of water on it, or just go to bed and hope nothing happens. Well, you can deal with a soggy fire pit in the morning, or god-forbid try to put out a forest fire. Your TactiCool Fire Pit extinguishes with the quick flick of your wrist, and off to bed you go.

  3. No Out of Control Fires. Dont worry about putting a little too much fuel on the fire, you have absolute control of the flame with the included propane hose and regulator. Want more flame? Cool, just turn it up. Its getting a little crazy? No worries, just turn it down. All done for the night? Right on, just shut off the propane all together. Couldn’t be easier really.

  4. Fully Contained Fire. Many forests in the West have burn bans during the summer due to dry conditions and extreme risk of forest fires. Most of the time this means you can’t burn wood. Why? well, because of all the reasons we listed above. But often those burn bans will still allow propane fires. Why? Because they’re safer, duh. But you know, before you go burning your portable propane fire pit during a burn ban and try to send me a ticket you got from the Ranger, make sure you check your local regulations. They can change day to day depending on conditions.

So yeh, we create some pretty impressive flames. And if you’re not being responsible then nothings going to be safe. But if you follow the guidelines, operate safely, then our portable propane fire pits are the safest options on the market and the best option for camping.
